HARARE

Often a night in Harare, the capital city, is required in order to connect flights. Tobacco auctions operate between April and October and are fascinating. Patrick Mavros is a renowned silversmith who has a studio on the outskirts of town which is well worth a visit.

Meikles Hotel
Zimbabwe’s oldest and only five star hotel with 296 rooms and 30 suites. Situated in the city centre the hotel has its own pool, shopping arcade and is convenient for sight seeing.

Imba Matombo Lodge
An exclusive Relais & Chateaux thatched lodge situated on a hill overlooking suburban Harare. Accommodating 14 guests, the lodge is an excellent alternative to any of the large city centre hotels. The rooms are all ensuite and tastefully decorated. Excellent restaurant and large swimming pool.

Wild Geese Lodge
A peaceful country setting with a dramatic view over the indigenous Mazoe Valley, about 15 minutes out of Harare and 40 minutes from the airport. Accommodation is for 20 guests under thatch with a large verandah taking in the commanding setting. Walks and horse riding on the 1000-acre estate are offered. Lovely pool.
