VICTORIA
FALLS / UPPER ZAMBEZI
Tongabezi Lodge
Tongabezi Lodge is one of the most romantic camps in Africa.
It is situated 20 km upstream from Victoria Falls, on the
banks of a wide bend in the Zambezi River with sweeping
sunset views of the river. It accommodates 18 guests in
either lodge houses or tents under thatch and it is worth
every penny to pay the extra to stay in one of the lodge
houses! The Tree House, Bird House, Honeymoon House and Dog
House are all deliciously indulgent, open plan, open fronted
and totally exposed to the river. Dinner is en famille or
room service. Activities include a swimming pool, grass
tennis courts, croquet, birding, fishing, game viewing,
canoeing, boating, walking, visits to Victoria Falls and
Livingstone (museums and markets), Livingstone Island picnic
lunches (July - February), white water rafting, bungee jumping,
horse riding, microlighting, Flight of Angels,
visits to the local school and lolling around! Children
over 7 welcome. Fantastic for honeymooning!
Sindabezi
Sindabezi is situated on a tiny island on the Upper
Zambezi, about 3 kms downstream from Tongabezi towards
Victoria Falls. It accommodates 8 guests in 2 twin and 2
double thatched rooms, made of local timber, reed and
thatch, each with spectacular views over the Zambezi.
The island is fully staffed and activities include game
viewing, birding, fishing, canoeing, walking, stargazing
and relaxing! Groups of 6 or more can have exclusive use
of the island (by request).
The River Club
The River Club is situated 18 kms upstream from
Victoria Falls along a steep riverbank overlooking the
Zambezi. The roomy wood and thatch split level cottages,
accommodating 20 guests, are decorated in simple colonial
style. The main lodge houses the dining room, lounge,
drawing room and library.
Upper Zambezi Canoeing Safaris
and Livingstone Island Camp
Upper Zambezi Canoeing Safaris operate a 2 night
canoeing trip spending the second night on Livingstone
Island (low impact 8 bedded fully staffed tented camp) on
the lip of the mighty Victoria Falls. These safaris explore
the islands and channels of the Zambezi. Trips are led by
professional guides and guests may encounter elephant, hippo
and a variety of Upper Zambezi birds including Peter’s
finfoot and half collared kingfisher. Livingstone Island
Camp is hidden in ebony and milkwood trees and may be booked
independently of a canoeing safari.
