OFF THE BEATEN TRACK

Lunga River Lodge
Lunga River Lodge is located in the remote northern border of the Kafue National Park and offers game drives, night drives, river cruises, bream fishing, wilderness walks and canoeing. Accommodation for 12 guests is in thatched cabins built under the trees along the Lunga River (open mid May - mid November). The camp has a swimming pool and steam bath. A couple of nights is highly recommended at the 6 bedded thatched Busanga Bush Camp on the Busanga Plains, a unique ecosystem offering a wide diversity of plains game and amazing bird life (mid June to mid November).

Chilongozi Safaris
Chilongozi Safaris include mobile safaris into the undiscovered North Kafue, where they operate two Busanga Plains Tented Camps, overlooking the vast open grasslands renowned for herds of hundreds of red lechwe, attracting large numbers of lion and cheetah. Further South Myukuyuku Tented Camp is situated in the central area of the Kafue offering walking safaris, rich riverine bird life, fishing, boat trips and game drives in the thick miombo woodland. Special interest safaris can be tailored to explore the remoter Western (Liuwa Plains, Barotse floodplain, Sioma Falls, Lozi tribe - August to December) and North East (Bangweulu Swamps, Kasanka, Lake Tanganyika - May to October) areas of Zambia. These trips operate for 4 - 8 guests for 7 - 21 days and are a great adventure!

Robin Pope Safaris Expeditions
Robin Pope Safaris Expeditions operate to the northeast and an itinerary may include 2 nights at the Luwombwa Fishing Camp at Kasanka, 1 night at Wasa Camp near David Livingstone’s memorial, and 4 nights at Shoebill Island Camp in the Bangweulu wetlands, home to the black lechwe. The papyrus swamps and enormous grass flood plains offer unparalleled bird watching. The rare shoebill stalk and shy sitatunga swamp antelope are regularly seen, as are tsessebe, oribi and reedbuck. Expeditions can also be tailored to the Western areas and operate on a full charter basis for a minimum of 4 guests.
