TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

Tarangire National Park (2,600 km2) is renowned for its large elephant population and beautiful trees. In the dry season, herds of a 1000 or so elephant mass around the dwindling water holes and the river. Acacia savannah dominates the horizon, but the variation of plant life is spectacular with tortilla acacia trees, candelabra trees, whistling acacia thorn, baobab and colourful flowers, particularly in the spring.

Oliver's Camp is situated on Maasai land, outside the park on the migration route. The camp accommodates 18 guests on either side of a dry riverbed, which leads up to a gorge with permanent water, attracting elephant. 5 night walking trails can be taken from the camp, sleeping on simple bedrolls under mozi nets. This is an amazing experience during which you become totally aware of every bush night sound. This is a professionally hosted safari camp, with the Tarangire Ecosystem as its focus.
