LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

Lake Manyara, in Northern Tanzania is one of Tanzania's smaller National Parks at 320 km2, of which 65 % is covered by a seasonal soda lake. It is situated at the foot of a huge escarpment, which forms the western wall of the Great Rift Valley. Bird life is abundant, particularly from January when the European migratory birds arrive, while in July yellow billed storks, white pelicans and flamingos arrive. The park is home 32 to the famous Manyara tree climbing lions, and other large mammals except cheetah and rhino. In the south of the park there are two small hot springs. 1 - 3 nights recommended.

Maji Moto is situated in a remote area close to the Maji Moto hot springs and overlooks Lake Manyara. This is a great place to relax. Activities include game drives, walks on the lakeshore and a steep walk up the lush escarpment behind the camp, where a cool shower awaits you under a waterfall. Accommodation for 20 guests is tented, and of the high standard expected of CCAfrica's camps.
