WINELANDS
East of Cape Town the
famous winelands are centred around the towns of Stellenbosch,
Franschhoek, Paarl and Wellington. The old estate houses are
built in the attractive Cape Dutch style and wine tasting
is a treat, with South Africa producing some world class wines.
Mountain passes and pretty valleys add to the beauty of the
area and 2 nights are recommended.
Le Quartier Français
Le Quartier Français is a splash of style in the heart of
the historic village of Franschhoek, a quaint corner of the
Cape wine lands that is forever a little French. 14 luxury
suites are set in a secluded Victorian courtyard overlooking
an enchanting garden and swimming pool. Its restaurant serves
a melange of French, Malay and traditional South African dishes
and is regularly voted as one of South Africa's best. Has
a wonderful honeymoon house with a private pool.
La Petite Ferme
La Petite Ferme is a bed and breakfast with 3 cottages set
amongst vineyards with magnificent views over the Franschhoek
Valley on a small winery. Best known for its excellent lunch
time Farmhouse Restaurant (booking essential). There are about
30 restaurants in the area for dinner!
Other wine land options include Lanzerac Manor, Summerwood,
Raggeland Country House, Grande Roche Estate Hotel, Auberge
Clermont.
