Tongabezi is an intimate and secluded lodge set in a tranquil grove of African ebony trees on a sweeping bend of the Zambezi River. Established in 1990, it was the first river lodge on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls and is privately owned and run. The emphasis here is placed firmly on exclusivity, luxury and romance. Days at Tongabezi have no set pattern and can be spent exactly as guests wish.

Location:
Situated on the banks of the Zambezi River, ten miles upstream from the Victoria Falls.

Accommodation and facilities:
Guest accommodation, located only yards from the river, comprises five cottages and four spacious, open-planned stone and thatch houses. All are fully en suite and afford guests spectacular river views. The four houses - Honeymoon House, Tree House, Bird House and Dog House are uniquely designed of local materials and have an open-plan bedroom with four poster double bed sheltered by a large airy mosquito canopy. Each house and cottage at Tongabezi has its own valet who will be available throughout your stay to ensure that you make the most of all it has to offer. Meals here are served in the large dining room or on the deck overlooking the river. The camp has a swimming pool which is landscaped into a natural cliff and also has its own croquet lawn and jetty.

Activities:
Activities include visits to Victoria Falls, Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park and Livingstone museums and markets, as well as boat trips, canoeing, white water rafting (at extra cost) and tiger fishing on the river, tennis on a grass court, golf, croquet and riding.

Special attractions:
For an extra special day, Tongabezi provides special luncheons on Livingstone Island in the middle of the Falls, it can also arrange fully catered canoe safaris with camping on the surrounding islands.
