Accommodation and facilities:
The camp accommodates a maximum of six guests in grass and pole chalets which are spread out along the riverbank affording unrestricted views of the Mwaleshi River and its floodplain. The dining area, bar and library are set under the shade of a huge Natal mahoganytree, creating a charming and natural environment in which to enjoy superb meals and relaxing sundowners after an exhilarating day’s safari. The library is comprehensive with a choice of over 250 titles relating to Zambia and the natural history of the area.
Activities:
Being on foot is the best way of undertaking a safari for those who wish to feel close to the game and experience the sights, sounds and smells of Africa face to face. The walks are all led by Rod, who has been guiding in the Luangwa Valley since 1989 and are always accompanied by an armed escort scout. For excursions, e.g. the Chipopoma Falls or the Luangwa River, which involve some driving, there is a Toyota Landcruiser fully modified for game viewing.
Special attractions:
Rod and Guz Tether, care passionately about what they do and about the restoration work which has brought the North Luangwa back from the brink. In camp, Guz manages, against incredible logistical odds, to produce meals of the highest quality and variety. Rod is an outstanding guide and his depth of knowledge and enthusiasm for all things ecological means that the guiding experience is always informative and fresh.
