Lunga River Lodge enjoys an idyllic setting under a canopy of hardwood trees on the clear waters of the Lunga River. This is one of the few areas in the world that remains untouched by development. At Lunga you will not just enjoy luxurious accommodation and amenities, but will have the far rarer luxury of receiving an in depth knowledge of the real Africa and the wonders and delights of its wildlife.
Location:
Situated on the banks of the Lunga River in the north eastern part of the Kafue National Park.
Accommodation and facilities:
Accommodation comprises six thatched, twin bedded cabins, all with en suite bathrooms with shower, overhead fans and a private game viewing deck overlooking the river. There is a superb bar area with a sundeck that is suspended over the river, a dining room serving outstanding food and a large observation deck. The camp also has a boma and a refreshing plunge pool.
Activities:
Activities include game drives, walking safaris and boating trips as well as fishing. Night drives provide the added excitement of the nocturnal wonders of the area. This is an excellent place for birding with Kafue National Park boasting 491 species of birds, including endemics such as Chaplin’s Barbet
Special attractions:
In addition to the plethora of game that surrounds the camp, yellow baboons and tree hyrax occur in the vicinity while a high density of hippo can be sighted in the Lunga River.
