Lying gracefully on an untouched beach on the peaceful south eastern coast of Zanzibar nestled between tropical gardens and a white sandy beach, ’The Palms’ is the ultimate getaway retreat for the discerning traveller. Each fully air-conditioned villa has a master bedroom, living room, standard bar, full en suite bathroom with bathtub, walk-in changing room and an extra room with its own separate en-suite bathroom. Fronting each is a large furnished terrace looking out over the Indian Ocean, private outdoor Jacuzzi and an antique Zanzibar bed for lounging. All are complemented by satellite TV and DVD player, mini-bar and safe deposit box.
Dining is a sublime experience and takes place in an old-styled dining room, adjacent to the spice inspired evening bar. The dining room forms part of the main house and serves a four course dinner each evening. The décor changes daily and alternates between crisp white linens and rust coloured silks. Jazz music and candlelight create a romantic ambience and add to a truly gastronomic experience. The cuisine on offer is a fusion of freshly caught fish, freshly picked produce and the fragrant spices and flavours of the various Zanzibar island cultures. There are two bars - the pool bar serves a variety of cocktails throughout the day as well as hearty lunches, while the evening bar offers a relaxed atmosphere for pre and post dinner drinks.
The Palms Sanctuary offers a variety of spa and massage treatments by the resident professional therapist who makes use of therapies that range from western to exotic oriental – all carried out in a quiet and private setting.
While the resort doesn’t offer its own diving, sports and water sports facilities, they can be booked at the nearby sister resort Breezes Beach Club, which offers a full range of activities including windsurfing, snorkelling, scuba diving.
