Selous Safari Camp lies on the banks of Lake Nzerakera and its sensitivity of design blends perfectly with the spectacular natural scenery in what is one of the most photogenic areas of the Selous Game Reserve. The camp sits in a prime position at the centre of the unique riverine game and birdlife rich lake complex and is fence free to allow the animals to wander freely through camp. This gives Selous Safari Camp a unique and totally authentic feel and allows guests a true safari experience.
Location:
Set amongst trees on the banks of Lake Nzerakera, one of the oxbow lakes that bejewel the Selous Game Reserve.
Accommodation and facilities:
Nine large luxury tents raised on wooden platforms with palm canopies, all fully en suite with double brass basins, cupboard space and dressing area. Each tent has two private verandas at the front and the rear. There is a superb dining area and bar raised on a viewing platform, with large comfortable sofas and reference library. The excellent cuisine is Table d’hote with an African influence using local fresh fruit, vegetables and spices. There is a private swimming pool set in shade with day beds and towels.
Activities:
Game drives in open-sided 4x4 vehicles, walking and motorised river safaris, excellent fishing and pre-bookable mobile bush camping.
Special attractions:
The area is home to one of the few remaining wild dog populations in the world. Enjoying all the facilities of Safari Camp, the nearby Selous Private Camp is available for small groups on an exclusive basis.
