Built on the banks of the Rufiji river amidst a grove of borassa palms and tamarind trees, this elegant and relaxed tented camp offers the discerning traveller the finest setting for a memorable holiday. Within the large and comfortable thatched low-slung main building there is a relaxed open plan area and plenty of planters’ chairs and sofas so that guests can scan the river and banks for game. Often you are visited during dinner by a curious elephant or two!

Located on the banks of the Rufiji river within the Selous Game Reserve.
Accommodation and facilities:
Eight spacious tents set on wooden platforms, open at one side to focus on the ever-changing view across the mighty river, making this one of the least overcrowded bush camps. Each tent is complemented by luxurious colonial style fittings and furniture, shower, WC, a dressing area and has a veranda looking over the river. All are spaced well apart giving seclusion and privacy. There is also one family tent. The dining room is raised for optimum views of Africa’s greatest show and serves superb food. A well stocked bar ensures the complete dining experience. For a welcoming dip the camp offers a sheltered, crystal clear blue swimming pool.
Activities:
Flexibility is key - guests can take an all-day game drive with picnic, or a walking safari in the morning and boat safari in the evening (or vice versa) or a morning game drive followed by lunch in camp, a siesta in the heat of the day and an evening game drive.
Special attractions:
This large meandering river with its network of channels, connecting lakes and swamps offers visitors the unique opportunity to go on safari by boat and experience the spectacular concentration of wildlife from an unusual perspective. One of the specialities of Selous Impala is game fishing. Some of the best tiger fishing in Africa can be found on the Rufiji river, which is virtually untouched by commercial or sport fishing.
