Nestling comfortably on the banks of Mwagusi Sand river overlooking a watering hole in the riverbed, Mwagusi Safari Camp is a small and exclusive ’old style’ tented camp run by Chris Fox, who was born and bred in the region. Due to Chris’s extensive experience the camp exudes a true ’bush’ feel, with the skilful use of local materials helping make this an authentic safari camp. Location:
Situated on the banks of the Mwagusi Sand river, four miles from the escarpment.
Accommodation and facilities:
Ten A-framed tents each enclosed within thatched bandas, in true traditional African style. All tents are en suite and comfortably furnished with high density mattresses, dressing table, wardrobe, luggage racks and safari chairs. At the front of each banda is a large covered veranda offering superb game viewing opportunities. The main dining area and bar are thatched and offer delicious local and traditional food and an exceptional atmosphere. There is a well stocked library containing some excellent wildlife reference books.
Activities:
4x4 game drives, nature and walking safaris with armed ranger, crocodile and hippo watching expeditions and ornithological safaris. Fly camping is available on request.

At Mwagusi, the amazing sight of over two thousand buffalo flooding the riverbed below camp is not uncommon!
