Jongomero Camp is a luxurious and subtly elegant safari camp set perfectly under a canopy of shady acacia trees on the banks of the Jongomero Sand river in the remote south-western sector of Ruaha. It is the furthest west of any of the camps in Ruaha and the only camp in this area. As such it offers the visitor unmatched privacy and exclusivity. Jongomero is the perfect base from which to discover the amazing variety of flora, fauna and different wildlife that make Ruaha so diverse and interesting - from open plains to thick inhospitable bush; from tranquil river scenes to great herds of buffalo moving dramatically through the acacia woodlands - Jongomero will give you the complete safari picture!
Location:
On the banks of the Jongomero river, in Ruaha National Park, southern Tanzania.
Accommodation and facilities:
Eight spacious tents on raised platforms under an enormous makuti thatch roof. Each with oversized (eight feet wide!) Dhow wood Emperor beds, full en suite facilities including double vanity units and spacious, private front verandas. The communal area is located in the shade of an ancient African Ebony tree allowing uninterrupted views of the Jongomero river bed. Dining is superb, offering a delicious combination of table d’hote, elegant buffets, al fresco dinners under the stars, campfire cooking and classic safari picnics. There is a ’rock pool’ swimming pool overlooking and affording great views of the Jongomero river.

Open 4-wheel drive all day game drives with bush picnics and outstanding bird safaris.
Special attractions:
At night in Jongomero from the room balconies it is usual to see elephant and hippo come wandering by, using the water course as a highway through the park!
