Plantation Lodge is surrounded by coffee plantations deep in the heart of the bush and is replete with a mercurial sense of charm and comfort strikingly complemented by a vista of beautiful, natural landscapes. Here, you can walk underneath the avocado and eucalyptus trees whilst listening to the various chatter of over forty different kinds of domestic birds or observe the snuggling geckos doing their mating dance or the cackling geese on their way to the morning bath. A truly magical place!
Location:
The Lodge is located on the outskirts of Karatu on the lower slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater.
Accommodation and facilities:
A total of fourteen double rooms, six of which can be converted into triples. All the rooms are individually furnished in varying themes, fully en suite and have private verandas. The dining room offers a superb selection of European specialties and exotic dishes of the Swaheli kitchen. Guests can enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner accompanied by a wide selection of exquisite South African wines. The lodge is set in beautiful grounds and has an excellent swimming pool.

Guided walks through the park gardens and coffee plantations to learn and see how the coffee is processed, extensive birding and photographic opportunities.

Here you can follow the tracks of Professor Grzimek with a day-trip safari to Lake Manyara National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater, the Empakaai and Olmoti Craters or to the ancient hunter-gatherer tribe, the Hadzabe, at Lake Eyasi.
