Ngorongoro Crater Lodge consists of three adjacent, glamorous camps – Tree Camp, North Camp and South Camp, hosting a total of thirty Maasai-inspired suites perched on stilts on the rim of the Crater. From the outside, this unobtrusive lodge resembles a magical Maasai village. Set in classic crescents, each stone and thatch suite affords spectacular views of the crater from large glass windows in the bathroom, lounge and bedroom, yet is almost invisible from the crater floor.
Location:
Situated on the south-western rim of the Ngorongoro Crater at the western edge of the Great Rift Valley.
Accommodation and facilities:
Tree Camp is very intimate and comprises of just six stone and thatch suites whilst North and South Camp have twelve suites each. All have an en suite bathroom and chandelier-lit bathtub and shower with each suite being attended by a butler for all your personal needs. The colonial-style interiors combine silver, gold and ruby colours under banana-leaf ceilings and grass roofs. Crystal chandeliers hang above large gilt mirrors reflecting carved Zanzibar wall panelling decorated with gold leaf. Each of the camps operates independently with central living and dining areas where Pan-African cuisine is served either outdoors or indoors and each have viewing decks overlooking the Crater. There is a communal safari shop and gallery.
Activities:
Daily game drives in closed safari vehicles, with pop up roofs, into the Crater, exceptional game and bird viewing opportunities in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and guided walking safaris.
Special attractions:
During your stay you will be invited to visit a Maasai cultural village in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, here you will be free to walk around, browse through the local handicrafts and watch Maasai dancing.
