Kigongoni, which translates to ’top of the hill’, is a delightful arrangement of large cottages tucked between the trees and small shrubs of a small hillside coffee farm overlooked by Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. The lodge is set within lush gardens and offers guests an authentic, homely experience and true sense of the very best in Tanzanian hospitality. Kigongoni Lodge has been developed in harmony with local community values, heritage and aspirations. The Sibusiso Foundation, a centre for improving the quality of life for mentally disabled children and their families, has its home adjacent to the lodge and directly benefits from its revenues.

Location:
A short ten minutes drive from Arusha and thirty five minutes from Kilimanjaro Airport.

Accommodation and facilities:
Eighteen spacious cottages all with king-size or twin beds, each has a large bathroom area with a separate shower and bathtub, writing and sitting area with a fireplace and large private veranda. Room service is available for all guests. Kigongoni has both indoor and outdoor dining facilities and a menu that is a delicious fusion of European and African cuisine using ingredients from the Lodge’s own organic gardens. There is a cocktail lounge and a superb swimming pool.

Activities:
Walking safaris in the bush, cultural visits, canoeing,  Country Lodge day tour and horse riding.

Special attractions:
Kigongoni Lodge is a major supporter of Sibusiso, which lies adjacent to Kigongoni Lodge. Atty Hammer, who has founded Sibusiso together with her husband, is the Director of both Kigongoni and Sibusiso. The managers of Kigongoni will be delighted to show you what Sibusiso does with the revenues from Kigongoni.
