Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse

Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse can best be described as a ’gourmet getaway’, tucked deep into the Drakensberg Mountains and surrounded by the Giants Castle Nature Reserve.  On the edge of a trout filled dam, alongside the Little Mooi River, with the soaring mountains rising majestically from the bottom of the garden, this is a place of sheer delight for both the soul and the taste buds!

The farmhouse accommodates guests in eleven luxurious and individually decorated rooms, guaranteeing a serene and heart-warming experience in the warm heart of the Drakensberg. Each room is individually themed and filled with artefacts reflecting he colour scheme. All en suite rooms have TV, tea making facilities, heaters, fans and warm towel rails. Each room offers a spectacular view of the mountain and offers comfort, peace and tranquility that will endure long after your departure.

The dining room is an eclectic combination of interesting artefacts, a large crackling fireplace and world-class cuisine lovingly prepared by Richard Poynton (recently awarded a 5 star chef status).  Passion and patience goes into the preparation of every dish with flavour being top of the menu. Changing daily, the fayre is a perfectly balanced combination of local, imported and home grown ingredients - a stroll through the vegetable and herb gardens will attest to this. A place in the country becomes a natural magnet to people who want to savour the flavours of home grown vegetables, farm fresh dairy products and home cured hams.

Walking, hiking, swimming in mountain streams, trout fishing, bird watching, horse riding and excursions to local bushman paintings are just some of the activities enjoyed on the farm and in the area.
