The Singita Private Game Reserve is in the heart of the world famous Sabi Sands, a vast expanse of pristine African wilderness adjacent to the Kruger National Park. This is Africa at its most untamed with the abundant wildlife free to roam across its wide expanses and a corridor for the migrating herds. Formed 13 years ago, Singita is a world-class eco-tourism and leisure operation offering award-winning safari adventures coupled with individual and sophisticated hotel experiences.
Location:
Situated in the private Sabi Sand Game Reserve.
Accommodation and facilities:
Singita operates five individual lodges, all with a distinct character and ambience of their own:-
Ebony Lodge - languishing peacefully within the shade of jackalberry trees on the bank of the Sand River, in the heart of the Reserve, this is a tribute to an Africa of the past - timeworn colonial furniture and ethnic crafts merge with vibrant hand-woven fabrics and relics collected from the land. The suites at Ebony are places of understated elegance, designed to complement and harmonise with the beauty of the forest and plains beyond. Ebony boasts a large air-conditioned library and an extensive wine cellar. Cuisine is outstanding with gourmet dinners under the stars alongside a blazing log fire in the Singita Ebony boma.
Boulders Lodge - built in a contemporary style that echoes the rough natural geometry of the rocks amongst which it sits, these nine suites have been designed as a modern African classic. Uncluttered, light and spacious, the luxurious suites are connected by a slender walkway, which winds its way through the bush integrating perfectly with the natural beauty of its surrounds. Elegant cuisine and vintage wines will complement your stay.
Castleton Camp - nestles perfectly between the Sabi and Sand Rivers, against the eastern boundary of the Kruger National Park, in the Sabi Sands Reserve. Little has changed here over the course of almost a century. The natural, understated luxury of the farmhouse and six cottages is permeated by warmth, comfort and contentment. The broad, polished verandas overlook a vast waterhole, where herds of antelope and wildebeest pause to rest in the course of their endless migration.
Lebombo Lodge - surveys one of Africa’s most dramatic landscapes in the Kruger National Park’s glorious south-east, Lebombo is constructed of steel, glass and wood in reverence to the wilderness that surround it. Each room has been skilfully built into the cliff overlooking a river with floor to ceiling glass walls to ensure a totally panoramic view as you relax under the slatted roof of woven branches. Singita Lebombo has various dining and living areas, a wine cellar and a fully equipped gym and health spa.
Sweni Lodge - built on stilts with decks of dark timber, Sweni Lodge is the smallest of the Singita lodges, with six supremely luxurious hides tucked away among the trees. With a style that is distinctly African, Singita Sweni unites earthenware pots and ethnic artworks with contemporary pieces, against a dark palette lifted with flashes of lime, avocado and kiwi. Constructed almost entirely of glass, slatted wood and bleached woven branches, the suites offer exclusivity and privacy with a wooden game viewing deck and outside shower. Sweni guests also enjoy their own dining room, wine cellar, swimming pool and boma.
Activities:
Game viewing activities include daytime and spot lit night game viewing drives in open Landrovers, accompanied by a personal game ranger and tracker, as well as escorted nature walks. (There are a maximum of 6 guests per vehicle. A private vehicle is available on request.)
Special attractions:
Both Ebony and Boulders offer three rooms that can be taken as an exclusive ‘lodge within a lodge’ which is ideal for families or groups of friends. When taken exclusively, this includes a private chef, butler and ranger.
