World renowned as one of Africa’s finest game lodges, Londolozi was the first game reserve in the world to be accorded Relais et Chateaux status, reinforcing its commitment to luxurious accommodation, fine cuisine and exceptional service.
Location:
Situated on the Sand River at the very heart of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve - part of the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park – this is a vast area covering six million acres and incorporating the famous Kruger National Park.
Accommodation and facilities:
Londolozi offers a choice of four luxury lodges all with outstanding levels of service and hospitality:
Founders Camp - a classic camp, featuring five delightful sanctuaries nestled in the shade of ebony and matumi trees along the banks of the Sands River. The camp boasts an enclosed boma next to the swimming pool, allowing a beautiful setting for enjoying meals, with views of the riverine forest. All accommodation is air-conditioned with plunge pools and wooden decks.
Tree Camp - takes its name from the ancient ebony tree shading the camp and is renowned as one of the most elegant and stylish camps in Africa. Intimacy and exclusivity are the keywords here, with each of the six magnificent suites offering private decks, plunge pools and outdoor showers. The camp has a lounge area with library with the main area leading out onto a large wooden deck, raised on stilts and elevated to offer breathtaking views over the Sand River.
Pioneer Camp - it was here that over eighty years ago the Varty and Taylor ancestors arrived after three days of hard travel by rail, wagon and on foot, and pitched their tents in the falling light. They awoke in a landscape of breathtaking beauty. Peaceful and remote, this wild untrammelled wilderness is still the defining experience at Pioneer Camp. A 500-year-old Riverine forest throws dappled light on the six exclusive cottages and provides a dramatic backdrop for the camp’s celebration of the past. Guest cottages are themed with historic memorabilia, telling a story of a bygone era and furnishing an environment of leisurely indulgence.
The Private Granite Suites - limited to just six guests, these quite unique and opulent suites offer the ultimate in safari ’chic’ and the epitome of contemporary style and ’bush’ elegance. Inspired by the indigenous materials and granite rocks that flank the camp they have been designed with the emphasis on volume, light and privacy. Each suite, which can be booked individually or as a private camp, has a private swimming pool and large doors and windows that open directly onto the river.
Varty Camp - the symbolic ’heart’ of Londolozi, comprising two private suites and eight chalets. All rooms have private swimming pools framed by timber decks that overlook the riverine bush. The living spaces are raised off the ground and shaded under a cathedral of trees. The camp has a pleasingly down-to-earth quality and the emphasis on family heritage means that children always have a place at Varty Camp.
