Set exquisitely in indigenous gardens shaded by knobthorn trees, a stay at Idube combines the peace and tranquillity of the unspoiled bush with the comfort and amenities of a luxury lodge. This is a place to relax and unwind amid some of South Africa’s finest vistas accompanied only by a refreshing drink and the abundance of wildlife that comes to drink at the nearby Shadulu Dam. Then after an exciting night drive, gather by the boma to savour some fine African cuisine and be regaled the ranger’s tales of their bush experiences.

Location:
Situated in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, in the heart of South Africa’s premier wildlife conservation area

Accommodation and facilities:
Guests are accommodated in ten, beautifully appointed en suite chalets, each fully air conditioned and with overhead fans. Private wooden decks have been added to each suite and serve as a good place to view visiting animals. Outside showers offer the perfect solution to a hot day. Dinner is taken in a bush boma beneath the awesome night sky with a truly eclectic range of delicious dishes being complemented by a selection of South African wines. There is also a swimming pool and a suspended walkway to a secluded sunken hide next to the wall of Shadulu dam where you can watch the elephants bathe or the lions come down to quench their thirst.

Activities:
Day and night game drives and bush walks conducted by skilled rangers and Shangaan trackers promise close encounters of the wild kind with an infinite array of animals. Botanical walks unveil the rich textures of the African earth and the fascinating uses of the Lowveld’s plant life.

Special Attractions:
In addition to the safari experiences, guests here can enjoy extra day time activities such as educational talks, a trackers’ course, and visits to the Shangana Cultural Village, plus visits to a local Shangaan house, traditional dances and the famous ’gum boot’ dances.
