Perched on top of the cliffs at Hermanus, The Marine has one of the southern hemisphere’s most spectacular seascapes. Activities here include The Carchele Health and Beauty Spa, Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and Wine Tours, hiking and fynbos viewing at Fernkloof Nature Reserve, one of the six floral kingdoms of the world, bird watching on the Klein River Lagoon offering glimpses of about 130 species. There is superb diving on the local reefs, the marine reserve and several wrecks along the coast. The Hermanus Golf Club and Arabella Golf Estate boast world class golf. Bowling, squash and tennis are locally accessible. Hermanus boasts some of the best land-based whale watching in the world. Walker Bay has become the nursery and breeding ground of the Southern Right Whale from July to November.
