Sitting in majestic splendour, high on the cliffs of Hermanus that overlook the whale watching paradise of Walker Bay and some of the continents best beaches, Birkenhead House offers guests the ultimate in luxury coastal retreats. From May to December, you can watch the magnificent Southern Right whales as they bask within the Bay’s sheltered waters to mate and produce their calves.
Accommodation is in the form of eleven lavish suites and one superbly appointed six bedroom villa. Each of the rooms, some of which have a balcony, offer beds varying from twin and double to queen size and king size beds. All have indoor and outdoor showers, private thatched decks, plunge pools and air conditioning.

Hermanus offers a wide variety of activities including golf, bird watching and nature walks along the scenic coastline or the fynbos covered mountains. A good selection of beaches are on your doorstep and you have the choice of the award winning Nanny’s or Karma Bay Beach, Voelkop which is great for bathing, and Grotto beach which is the longest in Hermanus.
