Situated in ten acres of parkland gardens, adjacent to the beautiful Knysna lagoon, Belvidere Manor offers guests the chance to relive the romance of a bygone age in a relaxed and tranquil environment accompanied by first-class, friendly service and outstanding cuisine. The historic Manor House, now a national monument, has two elegant dining-rooms and holds a much coveted blazon from the Châine des Rótisseurs.

Accommodation is in a delightful array of thirty four fully serviced, private cottages with either single or double storey options. Each cottage has a wide veranda affording views of the Knysna lagoon or the Manor’s beautiful landscaped gardens. Interiors are beautifully decorated and comprise an expansive living room with comfortable sofas, fireplace, ceiling fans, satellite television and DVD player, a fully equipped kitchen and dependent upon your choice one, two or three ensuite double bedrooms.

The Restaurant at Belvidere serves an evening à la carte menu with guests seated either inside in the dining rooms or, weather permitting, outside on the veranda. The cuisine is outstanding; the Garden Route being an excellent source for natural produce such as locally produced cheeses, ostrich meat and Karoo lamb. Knysna is also justifiably famous for its oysters, both cultivated and wild and succulent local venison is always a very popular dish.

Amongst the hotel’s many facilities, guests can enjoy a dip in the swimming pool and the pampering of traditional and aromatherapy massages and reflexology, whilst Knysna offers many other activity and leisure opportunities.

Lagoon cruises are available to the mouth of the majestic Knysna Heads or to the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Canoeing is popular up the Knysna River and Knysna Lagoon or alternatively, sea kayaking with an accompanied instructor. Diving and snorkelling are the ultimate experience below the waves where you might just catch sight of the endangered Knysna sea horse!
