Within the shadows of the imperious Zuurberg Mountains, River Bend Lodge offers an unrivalled safari experience and an unrelenting journey of discovery. Here, you can watch herds of elephant feeding a short distance away, listen to the songs of some 250 bird species or enjoy a personalised game drive into the mountains and marvel at the varying vegetation from thick forested valleys and open savannah plains to hillsides rich in fynbos. From the excitement of tracking the movements of game on foot, learning about the medicinal values of the bush to strolling through the citrus orchards of their adjacent farm, River Bend offers guests a diversity of activities to enjoy and savour in seclusion and privacy and, most importantly, at your own pace and pleasure.

Location:
Situated within a private concession area of the Addo Elephant National Park.

Accommodation and facilities:
Guests are accommodated in eight individual suites, tastefully designed and enjoying tranquility and privacy. All the suites are air conditioned and equipped with ceiling fans, safes, mini bar, satellite TV, and en suite bathroom. The cuisine at River Bend is the perfect blend of traditional old world food and Pan-African world fusion. Meals are not restricted to the dining room and you can enjoy romantic candle lit dinners in the privacy of your room or on one of the various verandas. There is a delightful swimming pool and a range of health and beauty treatments are available in the Vitality Health Studio.

Activities:
Accompanied game drives and guided walks, tours to the wildlife rehabilitation projects, cultural and historical excursions and superb birding.

Special attractions:
During April, July and September special tracking courses will be held for young adventurers wanting to spend some time learning the secrets of the bush. These courses are spent in the veld, away from civilisation and the lodge.
