Situated in the most sublime location on the edge of the largest sand dunes in the world, overlooking the mighty expanse of the Atlantic Ocean is the Burning Shore Beach Lodge. The aptly named “Beach Lodge” is perfectly positioned directly on the beach and is a place of spectacular sunsets - once the sun has disappeared beyond the horizon the beach is still magically lit, creating a tranquil mood accentuated by the roar of the Atlantic.
There is a nautical theme to the accommodation, with portholes for windows and the left wing resembling the bow of a stranded ship. The rooms are luxuriously comfortable and private, even though offered on a self-catering basis. Each suite has a sea view with patio doors to the lawn or balcony and has many amenities and conveniences. Sun loungers and umbrellas are set out on the lawn and beach for guests to enjoy the fresh sea breeze and the warm sun.
Various day excursions are available here and include visits to Sandwich Harbour, Bird Island, Walvis Bay Lagoon, the Moon landscape, Dune seven, marine safaris to Pelican Point Seal Colony and dolphin spotting. In addition, horse trails, dune quad biking, fishing and scenic flights over the Skeleton Coast can also be arranged.
