Horse riding in Namibia is a truly sublime experience - infinite space and solitude under clear blue skies and everlasting sunshine.
Riders have the opportunity to experience the Namib Desert intimately while riding 240 miles from the central highlands to the Atlantic coast. Shorter trail options of seven to eight days are also available for those with limited time.
Horses of different breeds are available and the aim is to reach a perfect match between horse and rider. Tack is either of the lightweight Western variety and the horses are trained according to the principles of natural horsemanship.
Accommodation on the trails is in large dome shaped tents with camp beds and canvas bedrolls. Luggage is transported by truck and the riders take short cuts through the bush or desert and meet the back up vehicles at the camp sites. Camp is pitched at sunset and meals are prepared at the open fire.
