Wolwedans, which takes its name from the African for ’where the wolves dance’, is nestled amidst red dunes and set against a backdrop of unparalleled beauty. This collection of secluded and intimate lodges offer the visitor the perfect base from which to explore vast stretches of awe-inspiring scenery and learn about an exciting variety of desert creatures.

Wolwedans Dunes Lodge:
Constructed on wooden platforms with panoramic vistas in all directions, the lodge reflects the ambience of a tented camp, but with the comfort and protection of a permanent building. Each of the nine spacious en suite chalets leads on to a private veranda and stretches of untouched dune sand. The central Lodge features lounges, a sundowner deck with built-in fireplace, dining rooms, a wine cellar and a pool. A special attraction is the ‘Mountain View Suite’ which caters for those who want to stay for several days and seek total privacy.
Wolwedans Private Camp
Situated in the quiet seclusion of an idyllic valley, this suite caters exclusively for four guests and is the perfect getaway for honeymooners or individuals seeking privacy and solitude. It comprises two spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms, lounge, study, living room, a dining area with private chef and a fully equipped open plan kitchen. Guided activities are not part of the package and the emphasis is on pure relaxation, but the Private Camp can also be booked with all services and activities included.
Mountain View Suite
The Mountain View Suite is a new addition to Dunes Lodge and with over 200 square metres of deck rising above the dunes, provides ample living space and adds a touch of luxury to the Wolwedans Collection. The Suite is located within walking distance from the Wolwedans Dunes Lodge, amidst a magnificent dunes landscape. It provides a homely and stylish atmosphere with ample space, maximum comfort and a high degree of privacy.
Accommodation comprises of a spacious en suite bedroom with a king-size bed. A shaded patio provides an ideal venue for meals and relaxed hours in the shade reclining in a hammock. There is a spacious lounge, bar and dining area and for guests who wish to enjoy their meals ’entre-nous’, an open-plan kitchenette supports the preparation of meals at the Suite. An east-facing veranda and sundeck lead from the platform into the surrounding dunes and the main veranda has a ’star-gazing’ bed, which provides a wonderful sleep-out venue during summer.
Activities:
Accompanied by experienced guides, visitors are introduced to the many facets of the NamibRand Nature Reserve’s desert habitat with its diverse fauna and flora – on foot, by car, or from the air. The interpretive scenic drives in open Land Rovers and nature walks with resident field guides reveal the fascinating wonders of the desert - as do picnics in the wild, sundowners on the dunes and dinners by candlelight. A special attraction at NamibRand is hot-air ballooning. If a plane is available, scenic flights to the Diamond coast and Sossusvlei are undertaken during the late afternoons. For hiking enthusiasts walking treks can be arranged.
