Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp is located just twelve miles from Sesriem, the Park’s entrance to the Sossusvlei dunes. Great sensitivity has been used in the construction of the camp, which has been built near the top of a mountain, using local rock, brick, timber and thatch to provide a luxurious and stylish refuge from the desert.
Location:
Situated in the heart of the Namib Desert on the farm Vreemdelingspoort - one of eleven farms that make up the NamibRand Nature Reserve.
Accommodation and facilities:
The accommodation comprises nine luxurious guest rooms, each with its own private plunge pool. The bedrooms are well appointed and offer comfort and atmosphere with wonderful views onto the desert plains below. The en suite bathrooms have panoramic views with both hot and cold running water, showers and flush toilets. The main living area is under thatch with an outdoor deck where guests can enjoy mouth watering dinners served under the star speckled African sky.
Activities:
Activities centre round early morning excursions in 4x4 vehicles to the magnificent Sossusvlei dunes and the "vlei" itself. Wonderful desert breakfasts are served under camel-thorn acacias surrounded by the dunes. Afternoon nature drives or walking activities are also offered where guests can spend time taking in the desert scenery and its unique fauna and flora.
Special attractions:
Ballooning safaris over the Namib are available here, at additional cost. The camp’s location provides easy access to Sossusvlei via a private entrance, yet also offers total privacy and exclusivity.
