Settled amongst camel thorn trees on the dry Auab riverbed, Little Kulala is the closest reserve to the famous Sossusvlei, deep in the heart of the Namib. Affording superb views of the red dunes to the west and the rugged Namib escarpment to the north and east, this is a place where visitors can enjoy and appreciate the splendour and stark beauty of the Namib Desert and its intriguing wildlife and plants.
Location:
Situated in the heart of the Namib on the western side of the Kulala Wilderness Reserve.
Accommodation and facilities:
Accommodation is within eleven, climate-controlled thatched villas that merge sensitively into the timeless desert landscape. All have exquisite fittings and fixtures, full en suite facilities with both indoor and outdoor showers, a rooftop ’skybed’ for romantic stargazing, bleached decks and private plunge pool. There is an elegant communal and entertainment area that includes al fresco fine dining as a highlight.
Activities:
Activities include early morning guided game drives to the spectacular towering dunes. Guided drives and walks are also offered on the private reserve where the highlights are incredible views, desert animals and smaller desert fauna and flora.
Special attractions:
For a truly special experience at extra cost, guests can enjoy an hour long balloon safari at first light, offering the sublime experience of soaring above the magnificent sand dunes and desert, ending with a champagne breakfast.
