Onguma Tented Camp is a beguiling mixture of elegant and sophisticated luxury where rest and relaxation combine perfectly with the experience of some of Namibia’s finest landscapes and wildlife. In the local Herero language, Onguma means, ’the place you don’t want to leave’.
Location:
Situated on the eastern border of the Etosha National Park.
Accommodation and facilities:
Accommodation is in seven classic safari tents arranged in a u-shape allowing guests both privacy and fantastic views. Each tent has both an indoor and outdoor shower, a zinc bath, toilet and two stone basins. With thick white towels, cool cotton dressing gowns, oversized pillows and retro inspired fans, the ambience is luxurious and exudes style and elegance. The camp’s main u-shaped building is superbly constructed in stone and wood and hosts a lounge and dining area. Dinner is served in the open lapa area where guests are treated to an excellent combination of European and traditional African cuisine fully complemented by fine wines from the cellar. The picture is completed by a dark, rimless swimming pool for guests to cool off after the day’s adventures.
Activities:
Superb game viewing at Onguma’s natural waterhole. Guests can also take part in guided bush walks as well as day and night game drives in the reserve and in the neighbouring Etosha National Park.
Special attractions:
More than 300 bird species can be viewed at Onguma and the reserve has the largest breeding colony of white-backed vultures in Namibia. During the summer months Onguma becomes a birding paradise with thousands of species migrating to wetlands created by the seasonal rains and river systems.
