Palmwag Lodge is a veritable paradise of waving palms whispering in the wind and truly spectacular surroundings which harbour the famous desert elephant, the rare black rhino, giraffe, zebra, gemsbok and many other wild animal species.
Location:
Situated in the northwest of Damaraland, midway between Swakopmund and Etosha.
Accommodation and facilities:
The lodge offers accommodation for thirty guests in an arrangement of two and three bed-roomed thatched bungalows and luxury en suite tents. There is also an eight bed, ’child friendly’ family unit. Each bungalow has an en suite shower, WC, mosquito net and a magnificent view of the surrounding countryside. There is an a la carte restaurant serving excellent cuisine and offering a fine range of wines. The lodge also boasts a thatched pool bar and a superb swimming pool which is located under shady palms.
Activities:
Morning and afternoon game drives are offered on a daily basis. The well laid-out hiking trails are the perfect way to enjoy and discover the dramatic beauty of the neighbouring landscapes and nature. Other activities include quadbiking, sandboarding, dolphin cruises and scenic flights. The lodge also offers guided full day excursions as well as overnight safaris through the breathtaking landscapes of the Damaraland..
Special attractions:
The lodge offers additional walking trails and day excursions to the Opuwo region to visit the Ovahimba people in their villages. On rare occasions, desert elephant walk through Palmwag in search of water.
