Vamizi Island Lodge is the ultimate beach haven, comprising a delightful arrangement of houses, all secluded from each other and looking out to sea from the shade of the forest that forms the centre of the island. The lodge has been designed to complement the environment. Whilst the sensitivity of the building of the lodge is aimed at keeping the environment unspoilt, your visit here will be one of total indulgence and being truly ’spoilt for choice’ on whether to simply relax and become enveloped in the luxurious surroundings or take advantage of the superb range of activities available!
Accommodation comprises ten separate beach houses, each with its own large living room, spectacular bathroom and breezy veranda. The houses are all secluded and look out to sea from the shade of the forest that forms the centre of the island. The décor of the lodge incorporates as much of the traditional design of the region as possible. The bathrooms have a solid slab of marble forming the wall of the shower, and hand-carved screens which provide total privacy. The bedrooms have king-size beds or four-posters with free-standing frames draped in beautiful natural muslin mosquito nets. All the furnishings in the dining room and central lounge area have been chosen, designed and mostly custom-made to incorporate traditional carvings reflecting the Arabic influence in the area. The cuisine at Vamizi Island is outstanding with an emphasis on fresh seafood including lobster, prawns, calamari and crab.
Marine activities are the main attraction and include world-class blue water fishing and fly fishing, as well as scuba diving and snorkelling in some of the most pristine coral reefs of the Indian Ocean.
