Ibo Island lodge comprises three magnificent mansions each over a hundred years old with thick walls and high lofty ceilings. Located right on the prime waterfront site, where romantic dhows sail out to sea on each high tide, the lodge offers an informal island experience, and with just nine rooms assures guests of exceptional service and flexibility.
Ibo Island is a potential World Heritage Site and therefore the rooms have been designed to incorporate the original architecture and style of the old buildings. The lodge has spectacular views over the waterfront and accommodates guests in beautiful and elegant rooms with indigenous solid teak and mahogany furniture handcrafted by local people. The wide verandas are furnished with hand carved furniture and soft cushions. All rooms are air-conditioned and also have ceiling fans.
The lodge has two swimming pools set in tropical gardens, an air-conditioned lounge and private dining room as well as a roof terrace restaurant with an open-air lounge area for after dinner drinks under the stars.
Meals feature freshly grow vegetables, herbs and fruits and combine traditional specialities with seafood. Romantic dinners are served on the tranquil verandas or on the rooftop terrace, all with awesome views over the island.
Ibo Island offers total relaxation allowing you to do as little or as much as you want. You can simply relax around one of the pools or when you are feeling active, partake in a multitude of activities that include kayaking, sailing, and outstanding snorkelling. In this part of the world, ancient sailing dhows are the most widely used form of transportation - a cruise on a traditional teak sailing dhow is something quite unforgettable!
