Nestling sympathetically in to a natural acacia forest that skirts Benguerra Bay and encircled by silver beaches and coral reefs, Benguerra Lodge is a unique African island paradise washed by the warm, turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Offering guests ’barefoot luxury’ at its very best, it has a rich East African/Arabic feel which is demonstrated perfectly by both its décor and its unique and exquisite cuisine.
Guests are accommodated in eleven, luxurious thatched chalets which are very open and airy, with no doors or windows and set far apart to ensure complete privacy. Each delightful en suite chalet has a private veranda looking out over the ocean and there are also two luxury suites, each with a private deck with plunge pool. The rooms all merge naturally into the surrounding forest and are only a few footsteps from the stunning silver white beach of Benguerra Bay. Benguerra also boasts an exclusive and very private Villa with two double bedrooms, en suite bathrooms, a private dining room and lounge. The villa has a personal chef to prepare delicious meals, a private pool and sun deck, and is just twenty feet from the beach. The main lodge houses the reception offices, lounge, dining room and patio area. Meals here are a gastronomic experience and are prepared fresh from the sea and include such delicacies as crayfish, crab and calamari or exotic Portuguese dishes.
Activities here are varied and numerous and include Landrover trips, diving and snorkelling, fishing, Dhow cruises and sea kayaking. You may also enjoy guided walks and cultural visits around the island and extensive birding and photographic opportunities.
