Offbeat Mara Camp is a seasonal camp located on the shady banks of the Olare Orok River and is a “hidden gem”, discreetly tucked away in a prime wildlife area. This intimate and exclusive tented camp offers a traditional safari experience. The camp is far from other lodges and camps and thus allows guests to enjoy the astounding natural beauty of the wilderness in total privacy and seclusion.

Location:
Situated on the Olare Orok River on Koyiaki Group Ranch.

Accommodation and facilities:
The camp accommodates twelve guests in six large ’walk in’ tents - three doubles and three twins. (an extra bed can be added to each tent for small children). Each has an en suite bathroom with hot bucket showers, wash basins and flush loos. The spacious tents are all furnished with large, hand made cedar beds, 24hour solar lighting and the finest linen. Informal dining is hosted in the mess tent or around the campfire. Delicious English breakfasts, light lunches and four course dinners are served. Guests can relax in the bar and ´mess´ tent, furnished with comfortable sofas, a writing desk and library with wildlife guide books.

Activities:
Unrestricted by game reserve rules around camp, guests can enjoy both day and night game drives in custom-built Land Cruisers, bush breakfasts, picnics and sundowners and walking safaris with armed guides. Guests also have full access to the Game Reserve, the Mara River and early morning balloon trips.

Special attractions:
Offbeat Mara Camp works closely with the local Maasai community. Local Maasai helped build the camp with Piers Winkworth, the owner and head guide at Offbeat Mara Camp. Several of them are now working as camp staff and guides, so you are assured of a truly experienced and knowledgeable insight in to your safari.
