Mara Intrepids Camp

Sitting above a sweeping bend in the Talek River, at the confluence of the Masai Mara’s four game-viewing areas, Mara Intrepids enjoys one of the most spectacular locations in the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem. Intrepids is a short drive from the Mara River, where over a million wildebeest and zebra make their perilous migration crossing every year. The camp itself is divided into four distinct areas, with separate dining areas and ‘mess tents’ ensuring exclusivity for larger groups travelling together.

Location:
Situated in the centre of the Masai Mara National Reserve, on the banks of the Talek River.

Accommodation and facilities:
Accommodation is in thirty elegant tents spread out over a large riverside site. Guests sleep in large four-poster beds and all tents have modern en-suite bathrooms with hot showers. The tents are on secluded raised platforms, most with private views over the river. There is a large dining terrace beside the swimming pool and small riverfront dining areas with private catering. Other in-camp facilities include an elevated game-viewing platform with drinks service and a ‘bush boutique’ selling souvenirs and safari essentials.

Activities:
Mara Intrepids offers three daily game drives personally hosted by experienced driver-guides, cultural tours of neighbouring Maasai villages, dawn hot air balloon rides, and lectures and slide shows on culture and wildlife.

Special attractions:
In 2005-06, 75% of the footage for the BBC’s famous Big Cat Diary was shot within two miles of the camp. Guests are invited to enjoy educational outings to Maasai manyattas (homesteads), while visiting children can take advantage of Heritage Hotels’ famous Adventurers’ Club to learn more about the local wildlife and the ancient pastoralist lifestyle of the Maasai people.
