Kicheche Mara Camp

Unfenced and secluded, Kicheche Mara camp impinges so little on the natural inhabitants of this prolific reserve that your Masai Mara safari is enhanced by the animals that wander unperturbed through the grounds. Staying in this outstanding bush camp doesn’t mean compromising on comfort. The food and service are first class, as are the warmth and experience of Kicheche’s staff. This bush hideaway welcomes you to a different world – a world of majestic animals, dazzling birds, sweeping grass lands, flat-topped trees and breathtaking sunsets.

Location:
Situated on the Aitong Plains in the northern Koiyaki Lemek region of the Masai Mara Reserve.

Accommodation and facilities:
Eleven spacious Selous style tents equipped with comfortable beds, linen, bedside tables, luggage racks and rugs. Bathrooms are en-suite and are equipped with a dresser, shower and flushing toilet. There are canvas director’s chairs on the veranda and hammocks slung between nearby trees to relax in. Most meals are taken al-fresco in a clearing overlooking the plains or, in the event of bad weather, in the spacious dining tent. The large and spacious Nyati tent, with its comfortable local furnishings and informative collection of reference books, is a delightful place to relax between game drives or other activities.

Activities:
Morning and afternoon game drives conducted in safari customised 4x4 Landcruiser vehicles with roof hatches. There are a number of escorted bush walks available from the camp. All walks are escorted by a Kicheche guide with a radio and an armed ranger.

Special attractions:
Guests can visit one of the local Maasai villages to see first hand their way of life. A village guide or your Kicheche guide will give you an interpretive talk during your visit. Balloon safaris followed by a champagne breakfast are also available.
