Across the whole of Africa, the Governors’ family of safari camps set the precedent for which all others have to be judged. Since 1972, when they opened Africa’s first luxury safari camp, Governors’ Camp, on a spot once reserved exclusively for Kenya’s Colonial Governors, they have grown and maintained a truly enviable reputation for providing the definitive safari experience..
Location:
Situated on the banks of the Mara River in the north west of the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Accommodation and facilities:
From the start, Governors’ set new standards in luxury, putting particular emphasis on comfort and service, complemented by levels of cuisine which would have been impossible in the bygone days of the grand safari. All guest facilities are under canvas and keep the authentic, traditional safari atmosphere. All guest tents have en-suite bathrooms with shower and basin, running cold and hot water as well as a flush toilet. Gas and paraffin lamps are used for lighting.
Activities:
Activities are plentiful and exhilarating, including hot air balloon safaris, game drives, guided game walks in the African bush, culture visits to the nearby Maasai villages and day excursions to Lake Victoria.
Special attractions:
Governors’ have worked closely with conservation groups to preserve endangered species and bring benefits to local communities. In the Governors’ family of camps your security and safety is always considered. You may be in wildest Africa but Governors’ Camps communications networks mean you can be in touch with anyone, anywhere if necessary.
