This camp exudes the authenticity of an era when the word ’safari’ became indelibly imprinted on the imagination of the adventurer. Cottar’s 1920’s Safari Camp returns guests to the original spirit and essence of ’safari’, reminiscent of a golden era - an age of romance, professional guiding, adventure and elegance - in a timeless unspoiled setting with panoramic views and boundless game. Situated in an extensive concession untouched by any kind of tourism or development, and having a safari heritage in the Mara since 1920, Cottar’s offers the discerning guest a guarantee of total exclusivity, unrivalled levels of personal service and total privacy.
Location:
Situated between the Masai Mara, Serengeti and Loliondo reserves.
Accommodation and facilities:
The camp accommodates up to twelve guests in authentic, white canvas tents, which are luxuriously furnished and incorporate original safari antiques from the 1920’s. Each enjoys a private, en suite dressing room and bathroom (with old-fashioned showers and flushing toilets) and an outdoor veranda. Delicious dinners are served by the camp fire, as guests enjoy the tranquility and sounds of the African night under a canopy of stars. There is a tented reading room with an extensive array of African and modern books and magazines and to cool off from the African heat - a natural rock swimming pool with surrounding hammocks.
Activities:
Guest activities include game drives guided by professional guides in either state of the art modern four wheel drive vehicles or in an authentic old wooden car. As the concession is outside the game parks, guided walks and night drives are allowed and highly recommended.
Special attractions:
On a more self-indulgent note, the camp has a full-time masseuse for complimentary massages, manicures and pedicures. Any other needs that guests may have will be met by butlers who provide discreet and attentive service.
