Loisaba lodge is skilfully converted from an old colonial home and sits on the edge of a high escarpment with sensational, far-reaching views across the plains to Mount Kenya. As the land is predominantly totally untamed African bush, there is an abundance of game to be observed and enjoyed and as Loisaba is also a working cattle ranch, it is a fine example of sustainable land use. From a safari point of view, because the land is privately owned, there are no game park rules and this allows Loisaba’s visitors an extremely rare opportunity to discover this magnificent area free from the restrictions that are imposed in many other game-viewing regions.
Location:
Situated on the borders of Laikipia and Kenya’s rugged Northern Frontier District.
Accommodation and facilities:
The lodge is constructed from stone, local timber and thatch, with guest accommodation comprising four double and three twin rooms. One room has a separate sitting room that can double as a further bedroom for a family group. Each room is fully en suite and features large windows that open on to a private deck cantilevered off the escarpment. The views are legendary and a water hole a few hundred feet below draws continuous wildlife. There is a swimming pool, tennis court, and spa and massage room as well as a well stocked gift shop.
Activities:
Day and night game drives, excellent tennis courts, horse riding, camel treks, guided walks, quad bike safaris, mountain bikes and river rafting.
Special attractions:
Recently, Loisaba introduced Loisaba House and Loisaba Cottage – properties developed to cater for guests who seek privacy and luxury comfort coupled with ultimate service standards.
Loisaba House is situated on the cliff escarpment and boasts two en suite, double bedrooms, butler service and is fully self-contained accommodation. Guests have use of their own private vehicle for game viewing and a private pool on the cliff edge, which overlooks the Laikipia wilderness. The house has a separate living and dining area and a deck for relaxing, reading, admiring the views of Laikipia and sundowners.
Loisaba Cottage is located about five miles from the main lodge and is set back from the escarpment in beautiful landscaped gardens. It has two double bedrooms - one of the bathrooms being accessed by an external stairway. The Cottage has its own staff and is fully self-contained with access to your own vehicle for game drives.
