Vumbura Plains overlooks a vast, attractive floodplain and offers the visitor the best of both water and land activities. The camp has recently been renovated by world-renowned architect and interior designer, Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens, (Winning one of the coveted Elle Décor Interior Design Awards for 2006.) Not only does Vumbura now offer the ultimate luxury safari, it also plays host to a wonderful variety of habitat and wildlife.
Location:
Situated in a private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in the extreme north of the Okavango Delta.
Accommodation and facilities:
Vumbura consists of two separate, seven tented camps, each with their own dining, lounge and bar areas. The bedrooms are raised on wooden decks, each with a plunge pool, outdoor shower and private sala. The main dining, lounge and pub area is also raised off the ground and tucked beneath a canopy of shady, indigenous trees with a wonderful vista across the floodplains.
Activities:
Vumbura offers mokoro (dugout canoe) excursions, birding, walks, boating and day and night game drives.
Special attractions:
The Vumbura area is the only area in the Okavango where you can see red lechwe (an animal that inhabits the fringes of the waterways) and sable antelope (an animal that enjoys the dry countryside) on the same game drive.
