Kanana is Setswana for ’paradise’, a term that applies perfectly to the heavenly experiences that await you at this camp set deep amongst the grass covered islands on the Xudum River. Kanana offers you a taste of a colonial Africa from days gone by - deep in the remote inner reaches of the Delta and completely unspoilt and oblivious to the hustle and bustle of the modern world.
Location:
Kanana Camp is centrally situated in the Okavango Delta encompassing a necklace of islands on the Xudu River.
Accommodation and facilities:
Eight large twin-bedded, en suite safari style tents with teak decking and built on plinths overlooking the Delta. The common facilities of the camp are also built on stilts with a spacious lounge bar and dining area all adjoined by teak walkways. The camp also has a gift gallery and a most welcoming swimming pool.
Activities:
Wildlife game drives, walking safaris, power boating and sunset rides, game viewing in mokoros (dugout canoes), birding and fishing.
Special attractions:
Kanana camp is one of the few camps in the Okavango Delta to have an exclusive heronry where many migratory water birds arrive from July onwards. The birds you are likely to see here are yellow bill stork, marabou, open bill stork, darters, cormorants and slatey egrets. Kanana also has its own private landing strip.
