Motsentsela Tree Lodge sits on a private 300 hectare game farm on the outskirts of Maun and makes the perfect first destination before embarking upon your safari experience. After a tiring international flight, Motsentsela will set the scene of the delights to come by giving you your first tempting taste of Botswana.
At Motsentsela - which takes its name from the local word for a birdplum tree, a magnificent wild fruit tree that shades the lodge deck under which our afternoon teas are served - you will find zebra, kudu, the unusual black springbok and ostrich roaming freely throughout the grounds. Birdwatchers can delight in the abundance of birdlife that inhabits the trees and bushes. Guests stay in luxurious and traditionally furnished en suite tents with a bath and outside shower. There is a refreshing swimming pool set into a deck near the main building where you will find a further refreshing bar, lounge and dining room. Guests can walk freely in the area as there are no predators. The perfect start to what you will undoubtedly find is the perfect African safari journey!
