San Camp is known to be one of the most romantic and atmospheric camps in Africa, sitting serenely in a reef of palm at the edge of the world. One can see the curve of the earth here, the ground stripped naked, with nothing crossing your vision but the bowl of the sky. A safari, yes, but also a complete desert experience offering the guest a chance to marvel at and explore the Kalahari and its unique wildlife.
Location:
Situated in the Kalahari Desert, on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans.
Accommodation and facilities:
This camp accommodates twelve guests in six pale khaki canvas tents, all are en suite and furnished in a rustic style to complement the totally authenticity of the camp. Dinner is taken either al fresco or in the traditional mess tent. There is a bar and a small museum.
Activities:
Day and night game drives in open 4x4 Landcruisers, a morning with the suricate (meerkat), quad bikes, game walks with Bushman trackers and birding.
Special attractions:
The guides at San Camp are often graduate students who combine research with guiding, they team up with a small group of Bushmen to guide our guests on walks and game drives.
