Meno A Kwena which translates to ‘Tooth of the Crocodile’ is set high up on the banks of the Boteti River. It overlooks a busy waterhole where a diverse range of animals and birds and the largest migration in Southern Africa come to drink and bathe in the dry season. The spectacular view from the entire camp high up on white calcrete and silcrete cliffs forms the centrepiece of the Meno A Kwena - a ’real’ African safari experience!
Location:
The camp is located on the western boundary of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park.
Accommodation and facilities:
Seven classic Meru style, walk-in safari tents with bucket showers, set on the edge of a riverbank, each with amazing views over the dry riverbed and waterhole. The main tent has a delightful lounge area, library and bar. The delicious food is prepared either in the camp kitchen, over the campfire or in a tin box oven giving a true taste of an authentic safari.
Activities:
Activities include walking trips, quad biking trips into the Pans, cultural activities with a local community, and drives which vary from short sorties to full-day drives into Makgadikgadi National Park. Excellent birding and outstanding photographic opportunities.
Special attractions:
Meno A Kwena boasts the first ever Boteti rock pool on the cliff edge made from local calcrete and silcrete bedrock from the riverbed. There is also an excellent game viewing hide.
